Andrew and Meghan met in September of 2010 in a ballroom class at Rochester Institute of Technology. Week two of ballroom, after a quick lesson on a basic rock-step, their dance teacher, Mo, lined up the men in an inner circle and the women in an outer circle facing each other. Mo had the women rotate around the circle every minute or so to give everyone good pairing opportunities. After a few minutes of dancing with other partners, Meghan rotated over to Andrew. As Andrew tells it, Meghan flipped her long hair, batted her eyes and complimented Andrews shirt color as they began to dance. Meghan disputes using such an amateur move but conveniently can't provide another story. Regardless, the connection was instant as they both made their separate plans to talk to one another.
After class, Meghan left the dance studio first and Andrew quickly followed, planning to strike up a conversation as they made their way outside. His plan was thwarted however when Meghan stopped off to the side and fiddled with her phone. Not wanting to walk past her, Andrew panicked and went to the water fountain waiting for her finish texting and walk outside. She did not. They both stood there, three feet apart, for an absurdly long time. A line started growing behind Andrew for the water fountain and he finally gave in and walked away, deciding he’d try again next week. Luckily for him, Meghan following quickly behind, and just as she planned, he held the door open for her. A conversation began, and awkwardly continued for a bit. Soon after, he left the parking lot with a big grin on his face and she left with his business card.
